here and there

Yesterday, I got this text message from my brother Nelson, "In LA. Just picked up Oscar tickets! X". Can you imagine? We used to sit on the floor in our pajamas, playing with legos together. You can bet I will have my eyes on the red carpet tonight! Nelson in a tux? I want photos!

Batman and Lindsey and 7 of her pals from Boston are up at "a bit of earth" this weekend, for the annual  tree pruning party. They've also done some forestry work, and added firewood to the woodshed. According to Batman, the place looks like it survived the wild storms last week. Still lots of snow, but warm temperatures and bright sunshine. Even some maple taps in the neighborhood. And the mud season road signs are up. Wish I could be there...but I had a board meeting at Wooster School, and that was worth my time and energy, too.

I will be doing a bit of freshening up here at sewandsowlife, in preparation for a new chapter. Some things will change as I try to simplify the look of my blog over the next few days. At long last, several different parts of my life are aligning. I look forward to sharing them with you soon.  My little mantra,"an empty nest is full of possibilities", has guided me well.

Enjoy the day!

better, thank you

this morning i was mired in technology exasperation...
it all looked like a repeat of yesterday.

but then i found the perfect backing fabric for a cradle quilt.
there were two (!) pieces of fun snail mail in my mailbox
(thank you paula and cathleen).
then batman and i sat at the bar and ate french fries
with our dinner out tonight.

sometimes you just have to mix things up.

sigh...

i came home in the dark and realized what a disjointed day it had been.
i am looking forward to turning off the lights, going up to bed
and crawling under the flannel sheets.
tomorrow is another day.

and since i know jane is a gem of a teacher, i've signed up!
might you consider joining us?

Our lives are often touched by chance,
are they not? I call it magic, the crossing
of our paths with the paths of others.
How quickly, how completely, these
magic meetings can turn us into direc-
tions we never dreamed of.

(ya, potts, the coincidences are staggering xoxoxo)

the quickening

i can feel it.
all the ideas and yearnings and callings i've been working with
these last few years are becoming irresistible.

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy,
a quickening that is translated through you
into action and because there is only one
of you in all of time, this expression is
unique. And if you block it, it will never
exist through any other medium and
be lost.
-Martha Graham

bring it on, march!
