reclaiming balance

when the news of toppled oil rigs and fragile economies
starts to feel heavy and overwhelming,
i tour the day's projects with my mug of tea
and my furry companion.
i eat my granola and yogurt out in the chilly sunshine,
admiring my bleeding heart hedge.
and i come back inside to look up lilacs in

it says, "the lilac... the joy of youth".

happy birthday #28, on the 28th of april
to our firstborn, stewart.

sometimes it's that simple.
i am renewed.

  4. How I love simple myself.... it's a compilation of all things simple that make up a wonderful life as far as I'm concerned. We don't all have to do BIG and think BIG and BE big do we? Nope. I declare it so. Works for me.

My way of feeling better about my day.... Ignore most of the news... who needs to hear about more murders, muggings and mayhem.... not me for sure....

I just went out in the pouring rain to take some pics...the neighbours think I'm nuts...the robins probably think the same...ahahha...
my lilacs are just little green buds at this poiint... so I took a photo of some lichen on the north side of my very wet Mayday tree... huge wet drops..almost sleet and a storm forecast...so maybe tomorrow I'll have a shot of snow on my very early daffodils. Last year they bloomed May 18... this year... already been there a week.... hmmmmm..... several weeks of unseasonably warm temps. fooled them...

  8. My friend Cal calls this a golden birthday - the same number of years as the day, so extra special. We recognize that sugary cereal treat idea - at our house it came in the small boxes for vacation - smiles to you & Stew!
