gathered

i have done a 24 hour up and back trip to
my brother doug and sister-in-law, ra's
in massachusetts.
bad driving in huge rain and wind.
classic rock on the radio.
(riders on the storm by the doors).
dinner with a handful of relatives in honor of my cousin margda,
who lives in sweden with her wonderful family.
mardga was in the states delivering a paper at a conference,
and we were lucky to have an evening with her.

and this morning, doug made crepes, filled with vanilla yogurt
and sliced bananas for breakfast.

have i mentioned lately how i truly believe
that one of the most sacred and holy places in this world
is at a table surrounded by friends and family?

well, i do.

  1. I completely agree with you on the sacred space. There is something so incredibly wonderful about lingering at the table, with wine being poured, and conversation flowing. yum!

  2. No wonder I think of you as a kindred spirit - what a clear statement of the divine in our lives.

  3. The crepes look wonderful! Glad you had such a nice trip despite the weather. Yes, we were sitting around a table with our daughter this weekend, eating good food, drinking wine and chatting. Very special times...

  4. I definitely agree with you about the dinner table surrounded by family and friends! that's one reason why i feel so bad about how totally cluttered and unusable my kitchen table has become. It sounds like you had a wonderful visit despite the dreadful weather.
