kitchen as sanctuary

violence in egypt and uganda and heaven knows where else.
stupid mistakes in my studio.
remembering the challenger tragedy.

deep breath.
impulse buy...february issue of REAL SIMPLE magazine.
presto! dinner inspiration.
(best to eat healthy when under a funk).

deep breath.
trying...
sauteed chopped chard with sliced garlic,
tossed with whole-grain pasta and raisins.
and
steamed, cut-up sweet potatoes and apples,
pureed with maple syrup and crushed red pepper.
and
a green salad with sliced avocado.

deep breath.
i feel better just thinking about it!

what are you up to in your kitchen?

  4. It was bread all week here, four loaves in five days, to eat and to share--toast, grilled cheeses, warm with honey, egg sandwiches for dinner. And then a decadent batch of chocolate cupcakes frosted with Nutella!

  5. reed, what you make in your kitchen always sounds scrumptious, but last night we dove into some pizza with mushrooms and onions
dave went for the beer and i went for the wine
healthy eating absolutely is the way to go, but sometimes i must put my face in some not-so-healthy fare
this morning, we'll head to the woods and walk off the effects!

i clearly remember the challenger tragedy

  6. Nutella-frosted cupcakes sound amazing!

I wish I could be eating non-caf food, but luckily one of my friends lives off campus and she cooks family dinners a few times a week :)

  7. Stew's teaching partner and his wife went to Egypt this past September to teach at the international school in Ciaro. With communications cut off we haven't been able to get any updates from them. It is worrisome...
