Ugh, painting! So time consuming...yet so rewarding when it's all done. Personally I edge around all the trim/ceiling/floor with my wall paint, then roll the walls, then repeat for a second coat and then paint the trim at the end expecting I'll probably have to touch up bits of trim color on the walls at the very end...
The walls. The roller tends to spatter the paint a bit. Even the good Benjamin Moore paint. Plus, I always use my brush and run the wall color into the seam between wall & trim. And what's with the blue tape?! That takes way to much time. You just need a nice steady hand and an angled brush with good, soft bristles. I LOVE to paint!
LOL, Karen. The trim. I try to do the hard stuff first. Plus, I find it easier to "blend" with the roller than the brush, over what's already been cut in.
Hope the nonwinter winter blues faded some with this beautiful day.
The walls - I love to spend more time on the detail of the trim, so I leave it til the end... and I just painted my laundry room so this is bring back some fun memories!! ;)

P.S. Mary's approach sounds right...perhaps the real task is to love the painting!
ReplyDeleteMy mom loved to paint. Her method was always to do the walls first.
ReplyDeletewall first.

I can't even get past the thinking about what color I want phase! When I have painted, it's been walls first. What color are you painting?
ReplyDeleteWall first, as I am liable to get the paint on the trim!
ReplyDeletewalls...
