let's #persist with a giveaway, shall we?

"Denounce the government and embrace the flag.
Hope to live in that free republic for which it stands".
-Wendell Berry
(from one of my very favorite poems, here)
THE BUCK STOPS HERE, friends.
This is the backbone of our democracy.

Would you like a crisp and fresh copy of
The Constitution of the United States
and
The Declaration of Independence
to keep on your kitchen counter,
in your purse,
tucked in your back pocket,
stowed in your glove compartment,
or anywhere else you might appreciate having it handy?

Part of my survival kit for 2018,
our copy is dog-eared and faded.
It's gotten a lot of use since November 2016.

Please leave a comment below or e-mail me
if you would like to find this booklet in your mailbox.

I'll post a winner by noon on Saturday.

  1. Tricky this, being a "good citizen" of a country whose government one cannot condone nor support, nor be proud of. A child of the 60s it's no coincidence that the words of JFK come to mind: "Ask not..."

  2. having those precious documents handy sounds like a smart move. to refresh our souls with the words and sentiments of people who "gave a damn" about our country, and gave a good example of what we stood for. and wouldn't put up with

  3. Yes, we all should reread these important documents. I also think we should read Hamilton and John Adams to understand how fiercely our Founding Fathers and Mothers fought for independence and then, worked collaborative to find a way to bind our colonies into a new country designed to work together.
