Gretta is out tonight, being a senior in high school. Her school's softball team made it into the New England playoffs for the first time in 10 years. They did not advance today, but it wasn't 'cause they didn't try hard. She was glad just to be there.
Batman and I went out to dinner, chatting in the comfort of a leisurely evening. We talked about raising four kids, and putting our hearts and souls into it for these many years. And how good it has been. And we talked about how an empty nest is so full of possibilities...
keep those positive empty nest thoughts coming! Shelby got her acceptance to IMSA (Illinois Math & Science Academy) today. Claims she's still deciding, but my bets are she'll go - and we'll have that empty nest 3 years early! I'd love to hear more of your optimistic spin!!

Your blue bells look delightful in the twilight.
ReplyDeleteMy nest has been empty now for a few years, intially you yearn for your children to be home again with you. Howwever if you have done it right and they grow up to be confident with aims of their own then you know that it has all been worthwhile.
It is then time your "you" time and you will find that you enjoy your garden, home all the hobbies that have been domant for some time.
Kindest regards, Sue
Beautiful photos, Karen.
ReplyDeleteEmpty nest: poignant yet positive - mixed emotions!
Still miss my Kate! :-)
