what do you think?

up here, at our "bit of earth" we do not have access to the internet.
if i want to get online, i have to drive down to town
to use the wi-fi at the library.

for you, would this be a blessing or a curse?
(just wondering)

  1. Well, our internet is so slow it feels like we could have driven to town sometimes in the time it takes for a page to load!

  2. A mixed blessing! There would be some withdrawal, but time away from the internet opens up so much time to enjoy the precious moments more.

  3. I agree with Bobbi, I would miss just 'poping on' to read a few blogs or to check details of opening times etc but I think I am a bit of an addict and a bit of time away would make me 'do' more with my spare time!

  4. I hate to say it, but it would be practically inconceivable! But I agree with Bobbi and Lyn, I'd probably me more productive...or less, because I'd be in town with my laptop instead of at home!

  5. I think a blessing. Once I got used to it, a very big blessing. :)

  6. Hmmm, that's a tough one. I know I'm way too addicted to instant connections to whatever I want. I used to go for days without the computer, and then it became a means of communication with others when I felt very isolated when my life turned upside down.

I love being able to touch base with certain folks who live far away...
Bottom line? Gotta have it, at least some of the time.

  7. We purposely kept all media except radio out of the cabbage (cottage) and it is a breath of fresh air - a dream come true. This year a new cell tower makes smart phones work, and it's not quite the same. . .

  8. For a time it would be a blessing, but I do like having access to email and the internet. I went 10 days without it in Italy last year, and it was freeing.

  9. I think it would be hard, as the internet and my smartphone are so integrated into my daily life. I read the paper, communicate with friends, entertain myself with blogs and essays, record family memories on my own blog, find and follow recipes, keep my calendar, immediately look up info from weather forecast to word spellings/definition to historical dates, etc. But I can go awhile without it, awhile being a few hours (and no, not just when I'm asleep!).

  10. Until today, I've been sans internet and my iPhone for nearly a week. Except for about seven minutes of jumping on-line at a coffee cafe in Jasper, Alberta CA, I've been without either phone or computer interaction.

My suggestion: stay away from the computer except for those brief encounters at the library. Instead of on line connection, enjoy a book and find the other ways that we communicate with our human beloveds. Go deeper and communicate with plants, sky, earth and the ethers. Don't let the wi-fi sabotage communication with the other wireless.
