These are beautiful and moving, Karen. I had never heard of puppets of this kind until moving to our farm. That autumn, 2010, Viroqua hosted its first annual Harvest Day parade which included hundreds of townsfolk, adults and children, celebrating the abundance of our agrarian community. The parade lasts for less than a half hour then moves off to a hillside park for afternoon and evening events. The puppets are all hand made, worn, carried, pushed or pulled involving a different theme each year. It's moving, inspiring, humbling and loads of fun for all involved. And the town embraces the idea, allowing its Main St., the only road straight through town and a truck route that connects Madison to LaCrosse, to be closed to all traffic for the event. Take more field trips, Karen. I so enjoy going along with you.
Life can sometimes be a wrestling match between love and fear. We can CHOOSE which to embrace. Every day. On my "to do" list? Breathe, hope, notice, invite, love,
create, wonder, celebrate.
feel free to add a link from my place to yours, but please do not use the words and images on this blog in any other way without my written permission. to do otherwise is not nice and illegal as well. thanks.
