HOLIDAY MAGIC...greenery

november 28th
Batman and Gretta scouted out the perfect trees
up at our "bit of earth" in Vermont.
(We've planted the seedlings in the foreground
over the past two summers. )
Quality inspection and height measurement.
Sawn down in a flash!
This is when those volleyball muscles really come in handy!
Our college/farmer girl,
with a nod to deer hunting season around her neck.
Three trees, loaded up and ready for their four hour journey
south, to a very special place.
december 4th
Installed in the Honor Room,
right outside of the (very ecumenical) chapel at Wooster School.
(Wooster's prayer includes one of my favorite phrases of all time,
Make us gentle, generous, truthful, kind and brave).

Mistletoe, wreaths, evergreens, holly and ivy...
do you have traditions that bring the outdoors into your holiday home?

this is an old post from 2010.
This giveaway was held last year.
Sorry for the confusion!)

  2. I can just smell those trees all the way here in LG - so beautiful, as is their destination. What a place!

And... wept big tears here earlier today when the mail arrived. I'm feeling very much loved - sunflowers, a golden boy stamp, remember...

  4. I love the peek I see of the Green Mountains in the tree-cutting photos. The trees look lovely at the school. How nice that you trucked them down. Thanks as well for sharing that prayer. I feel it could become a family motto around here!

  5. The trees look so beautiful on either side of the chapel entrance. I love the smell of evergreens indoors, especially Fraser firs. I've got a nice looking holly in my front yard that was planted by the birds...the other day i saw a mockingbird perched on the very top, eating the berries.
