steady on

Helping me stay sane...
  • The easy comfort of sewing from a kit. I can't remember the last time I did this, but I just needed something uncomplicated and fun. I found just that at rosylittlethings, a lovely blog that is filled with domestic bliss. Mostly hand sewn, this gem is kept in my "grab and go" basket by the front door, waiting for the next call from a realtor.
  • Eating mindfully. Batman and I are doing another 30 day vegan workshop with Heather, and Hannah has joined us. I knew I would need the discipline and structure of a healthy eating program as we embarked on this real estate adventure. A week and a half into it, I am feeling really good. The timing for this has been just perfect. We share a few meals and some cooking with Hannah, so that's been fun, too.
  • Remembering that it's important to take one day at a time. It's such an overused phrase, but that does not make it false. Breathing, re-centering and breathing again has saved me more than once this past week. One foot in front of the other...
  • Letting go of control. Batman and I have done everything we can do to get this place ready, now we must just let go, be patient and wait for whatever comes next. Ha. If you know me well, you'll know that this is a wee bit of a challenge for me...
I do love to drop down the internet rabbit hole every once in a while, it is a bit of an escape from reality. Do you have any favorite online links that you could share in the comments? I would be ever so grateful. xo

  1. From what I understand, people are buying property. NOW! I spent five weeks in California in both Sausalito and Manhattan Beach. Properties start at around one-million-dollars. From reliable sources, most places are sold within two weeks in those areas.

We just returned home where the identical house to ours, in this neighborhood, sold in less than one-week. It is happening all over the country.

Miss Maggie Rabbit is a perfect companion. Very sweet.

  2. Enjoy your rabbit hole; seems to bethe perfect spot for you,
Mine is a fabric and thread hole in my living room: quilting! Bringing me happines and fulfillment every single day.
Good luck on the vegan trip; I have been doing green smoothie breakfast for five weeks now and I feel as fine, fresh and energetic ( and the stool problems due to my post cancer surgery are gone!) as when I was in my thirties, which is 28 years ago :>)
    Cheers,

    Jeanneke.

  3. I've been enjoying your blog since Heather's last 30 Day Vegan workshop when I think I clicked on your link in a comment you made.

Isn't Alicia's blog amazing? I don't sew a stitch and have been reading her for quite some time.

I wanted to wish you all the best with your real estate adventure. We moved down here to the beautiful Smoky Mountains from our home in suburban Philadelphia four years ago. After lots of hard work, we put our house on the market and it sold in a week. Hoping things move quickly for you all as well.

  5. Exactly, letting go of control, patience, trust...I found myself thinking tonight that having a house on the market is a huge test and I should treat it as such and keep my attitude positive. But I'm with you, it is SO hard to do. I check my phone a thousand times a day "just in case" the realtor called...

  6. Karen,
Thinking of you often when parallel energy zapping worries overcome my resolve to "breathe and believe." I know I couldn't do a vegan diet for more than a few days, so I congratulate you on a 30 day commitment. Having a grab and go project is a stroke of genius. So much better than a book or magazine which couldn't possibly hold attention nor bring such a satisfying result. You know I'm pulling for you!

  7. As Thoreau says, "To be awake is to be alive." You inspire me with your "awake-ness" and mindfulness through thick and thin and everything in between. Here's a link to my very favorite online comfort: http://sewandsowlife.blogspot.com/
