i grew up next door to my paternal grandmother
and my christmas cactus has grown from a clipping
i took from her plant a few years before her death in 1992.
the plant has travelled with us from chicagoland to connecticut
and now to vermont.
it is a trace of my beloved grammielowry
that i still cherish.
