spring paint

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

I do love winter.
But, really...

Freezing rain today.
(Poor lilac buds!)
Two more snowfalls last week.
Huge snowplow piles at the end of the driveway.

Wedding prep lawn/yard work is on hold.

So?
We stripped wallpaper yesterday.
I'll fill holes and dings with spackling compound this afternoon.
It's a spare bedroom in the basement, off my sewing studio.

I'm thinking SPRING GREEN for the walls.
Or ROBIN'S EGG BLUE!

What's going on in your neighborhood?

  1. Love your quote from Emerson. Not only because I feel attached to him: the school I helped to build and where I taught the last years of my career was named for him, but because he is so quotable.
I vote for some sort of blue in the guest room. You have an affinity with that color and however you choose to prepare the room for company they will vibrate with your loving frequency.

    1. Hooray for Emerson!
My Mumsie, who adores aqua suggested that we meet somewhere between blue and green. Check back in a few days to see where we landed. xo

  2. How did you strip the wallpaper? Was it miserable work? We have a big hallway that has wallpaper, and our plan is to paint over it. Opinions vary a lot about which is better to do. Any advice is welcome!

    1. It was old. We were able to pull off the printed bit and some of the paper remained. We sponged on some wallpaper remover, let it sit for a few minutes, and using a scraper, got a corner started. The rest peeled off magically in one huge, soggy sheet. Then we filled the holes with spakling compound. We'll sand, use TSP to scrub one last time and paint this weekend. Painting over wallpaper may cause bubbling--beware!

    2. Thanks for taking the time to write back! That's what I'm afraid of.
