forest green corduroy salvaged from an old dress,
a murder of crows and some fern embroidery.
can you guess what i'm up to?
we've finally had some blessed rain.
the sky has been so changeable and beautiful,
with the spring green leaves adding to the dazzle.
when i'm in the midst of busyness, and running on fumes,
i look up,
take a few deep breaths
and relax my shoulders.
mother nature is a balm.
i'm looking forward to catching some r&r with this book
sometime in the next few days.
anne lamott is one of my absolute favorites.
have you read some assembly required yet?
I just read Traveling Mercies and will soon start the follow-up. I read Operating Instructions when the kiddos were little; I think I'd actually appreciate it more now! Let us know how you like Some Assembly Required . . . .
ReplyDeleteI would guess that you might be assembling a pillow.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been reading much lately, but I've been enjoying Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth...a collection of short stories! Pretty good stuff.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a cool project...

No, I haven't read that book, but I do love Anne Lamott. I'll check the library. Hmmm... what are you making, Karen? I know it's going to be beautiful and clever!!!
ReplyDeleteis the project related to "a feast for crows" by george r.r. martin, of "game of thrones" fame? i haven't read anne lamott but she is on one of my bazillion TO BE READ lists.
ReplyDeletethank you for the needle-threaders...maybe i'll do a clever project, too. have fun, dear friend, and get lots of r&r this weekend! xo tqoe
Your embroidery is beautiful. I recently made some mittens out of old sweaters from our local rummage sale. One sweater already had embroidery on it, so I got beautiful embroidered mittens without much effort. You can check them out here:

Perhaps you'd like to do an embroidery tutorial or one on whatever lovely thing you're making.
Hmmm... my guess is some sort of purse. Never thought to embroider on corduroy, but yours looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love Anne Lamott. Haven't gotten to this new one, but I hope to soon.
Enjoy your weekend!
Anne Lamott is wonderful. I haven't read this one, but plan to. Enjoy the spring springing. And I am intrigued by the first photo... what are you making?
ReplyDeleteI've hears this new book is wonderful; do you agree? And I'm reading The Emperor of All Maladies, a biography of cancer. It's actually fascinating to read about the obsessive dedication some researchers and physicians have in their search for a cur.
