the light within and the autumn light

(last week, at "a bit of earth")

There they dance, arm in arm with the light...
you can hardly tell at last what in
the dance is leaf and what is light.

Journals

I have felt it coming for days...
the rare, amazing  flood of clarity I sometimes experience in the autumn.
from somewhere earthy and deep and reassuring.

This morning I sat down with tea and a Moleskine
and wrote and wrote.

Now the question is, what will I do with these insights?
 Percolation, I think.

Does this ever happen to you?

  1. I vote that you share insights with us - if they have the option of a public life! Clarity is such a precious thing - mine tends to come in the calm and quiet of short winter days, often at the arboretum. Nature does seem to impact meaningful thought.

  2. Yes, thank goodness ;)
Sometimes when I'm driving to work in the morning, in which case I have to scribble words in a little notebook without looking and hope I can read my notes later...

  3. Rarely, but almost always when i'm closest to Nature...and don't have anything with me on which to take notes!

  4. I think it is a bit too cold and wet here to feel like that today, but it was lovely at the weekend and it always makes me feel like the world is slowing down and turning inwards when you get those sunny autumn days when the air is still.

  6. I too have these moments once in a while, Karen. Often when away from home, in a hotel room, waiting at the airport, on a long car journey. I guess being away from distractions and responsibilities allows me to see things from a different perspective.

  7. I think it has to do with transcendence...ordinary, quiet moments that open us to being receptive?
