block number 73
from tula pink's
city sampler
100 modern quilt blocks.
stitched with more homegrown, hand dyed indigo.
before the dye bath,
i ran a few lines of twisted running stitches,
pulled them up tight and knotted each line.
this created the "resist".
after the fabric was dyed, rested and rinsed,
i snipped the stitches, flattened the fabric out
and pressed it.
the birch fabric is one of my top ten favorite prints of all time.
but you already knew that.
:-)
this fabulous september sky
provided the inspiration.
Love this one in particular...another fine example of Karen and Mother Nature playing together. Just watched this little video of Tula and thought you might like to watch it too. http://www.aqsblog.com/take-a-walk-with-tula
