block number 6
from tula pink's
city sampler
100 modern quilt blocks.
i used a bit of my tansy dyed linen,
a reminder of warmer days!
and the inspiration...
we have four Meyer lemons
ripening on our windowsill tree.
(the tree was a gift from batman,
a few years back.
a few years back.
he ordered it from here)
Such a soft yellow. Tansy leaves make wonderful flower pounded images on fabric but I've never used the plant as a dye. Perhaps it's time I learned. Happy your lemon tree is healthy and producing. I lost last year's lemon babies to a particularly nasty attack of scale. This year's babies are doing well so far....though it may be a long while yet before I have any fruit! Enjoy both the block and its inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI remember you asked about scale. Did the Four Winds Growers website have any suggestions? Glad you are trying again. Dyeing with tansy is super easy. I'll try pounding with it next summer. We can compare notes. xo
