the last of the yellow wax beans

planted with seeds saved from last year's crop.
grown in the gardens at our "bit of earth".
harvested while the dew still glistened.
blanched in a steamy kitchen.
packaged and labeled and tucked into the freezer.

bounty and blessing and hope
to enjoy all winter long.

  1. those wax beans sure are tasty. i remember harvesting them last summer.

  2. September alwqays brings up memories of being little and standing on a chair to goush the tomatoes for the sauce we were canning . . . and canning . . . and canning.

  3. Beautiful! and will be even more lovely when winter comes.

  4. This is a really beautiful photograph. I have not had much luck in freezing beans. They always turn out mushy when I pull them out of the freezer.
