AEDM:day six

"solstice"
wall hanging in progress

i made these four strips a year ago,
then put them away, not sure why.
today i sewed these two strips.
the bottom strip still needs to be cut on a 45 degree angle and rotated and resewn.

i made my first wall hanging using the seminole technique in 2000,
using this book in a class with karen eckmeier.

since i am much more of a solstice girl than a christmas one,
i'm looking forward to finishing this up in time
to hang it at our place in vt.
this was one of the projects lindsey
is going to check in with me about

nothing like an "accountability partner" to light a fire under your butt,
especially when she's your daughter!

if you'd like a peek at the little gifties i made for my friend judy,

  1. I love the Solstice piece! The colors are gorgeous. I'm more of a Solstice than xmas person as well. Thanks for stopping by my blog:)

  2. I really like the strong colors in your piece and have always admired seminole patchwork. Should be wonderful when completed.

  3. LOVE these color combos, Karen! I was in a cross country quilting exchange where we each made 1 strip in each others fabrics from this same book, then put them together on our own. Love the strong geometry!
